The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you’ll never be short of places to go walking. \nBefore you book onto a Lowland Leader training course\, make sure you have done the following:\nYou must be at least 17 years old\nYou must be registered on the scheme\nYou must have recorded a minimum of 10 varied walks in Lowland terrain where the use of a map is required (ideally these will be recorded on DLOG) which can have taken place at any point (pre- or post-registration). \n \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\n\nWhat’s Covered\n\n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Leadership Skills and Group Management\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Walking Skills\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Planning a walk\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Basic Mapwork and Route Finding Skills\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Equipment\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Hazards and Emergency Procedures\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Environmental Awareness\, Conservation\, Access and Land Ownership\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\n\nOutcomes\n\n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n					\n						Pass - competence achieved in all areas of the syllabus\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n					\n						Deferral - some areas of weakness \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n					\n						Fail - weakness in several areas observed
