DESCRIPTION:Book Course\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\nDay 1: 05 October 2023 | 9:00am – 5:00pm\nDay2: 06 October 2023 | 9:00am – 5:00pm\n \n\n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				The WorkSafe Outdoor First Aid programme is a programme of learning designed to meet with specific criteria of many outdoor organisations including: Mountain Training England (MTE)\, British Cycling (BC) and other similar organisations that stipulate a minimum criteria of subjects that candidates must cover. \nWorkSafe Outdoor First Aid is equally suitable for anyone who is involved with outdoor activities of any kind and is particularly suitable for those people working with\, supervising or leading groups of people in the outdoors where attendance of emergency services may be delayed. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\nDescription\n\nThe content of the programme also meets with the recommendations for Appointed Persons in the workplace under The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. These regulations are defined in the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACOP) document L74. \nThe syllabus for WorkSafe Outdoor First Aid has been derived from criteria laid down by the above organisations and bodies and is also based on best practice from the industry. It is a 2 day course with 16 hours of recommended guided learning \n \n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\n \nWhat’s Covered\n\n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Assess and prioritise a first aid incident in remote areas\, including multiple casualties scenarios\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Deal with an unconscious casualty\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Perform basic life support\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Control bleeding and manage shock \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Monitor and record casualties condition \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Recognise and deal with a wide range of common injuries & illness's\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Recognise and manage hypothermia and other cold related injuries \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Practice casualty immobilisation and evacuation techniques\n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Casualty handover to professional persons/services \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					^\n					\n						Maintain first aid kits both for base & off site use \n						\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\n\n \nOutcomes\n\nThe core syllabus is taken from the HSE Emergency First Aid at Work guidance and stipulates that on completion candidates should be able to undertake the following actions: \nunderstand the role of the first aider\, including reference to:the use of available equipmentthe need for recording incidents and actionsthe importance of basic hygiene in first-aid proceduresassess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely\, promptly and effectively in an emergencyadminister first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizureadminister cardiopulmonary resuscitation (Including AED use)administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shockadminister first aid to a casualty who is chokingprovide appropriate first aid for minor injuriesAdditional subjects which are included in 2 day outdoor course are \nManaging Unconsciousness in the OutdoorsSecondary Survey & Monitoring Vital SignsGetting Help / Casualty Report FormMedical EmergenciesCardiac EmergenciesDrowningEnvironmental Conditions (Heat/Cold injuries)Fractures & Soft Tissue InjuriesHead\, Neck and Back InjuriesMoving and CarryingManaging Casualties Outdoors & Improvised SheltersBasic Triage
