Whether you’re already familiar with the idea of mountain bike leadership or looking to find out more, we can support you to gain a qualification that will enable you to lead groups of riders for a brilliant day on the bike.

Day 1: 27 Nov 2023 | 09:00am - 17:000pm Day 2: 28 Nov 2023 | 09:00am - 17:00pm   The course is ideal for anyone who wants to lead groups using mixed road and off-road environments. This might include rides that are already taking place but require development and insurance, or perhaps you are looking to organise activity for your school, college, activity centre – or simply a group of friends. Your remit would be to lead on terrain that ranges from the urban fringe and gravel tracks through to open countryside, woodland and most trail centre blue routes. The minimum age to attend a course is 16 (Scotland) or 17 (England and Wales) years old. Note you will only be able to lead independently once aged 17 in Scotland and 18 in England and Wales.You must be able to ride a mountain bike (or another appropriate bike for the terrain) comfortably on roads with some traffic, off-road and mountain bike trails up to blue grade, be regularly riding and have an appropriate level of fitnessComplete a logbook to evidence your recent rides. The DfE recommend that: ‘Schools should appoint an educational visits coordinator and make sure they have the training they need.’(Guidance: Health and safety on educational Visits, DfE, 2018). The course delivers core messages that develop the skills and expertise of the EVC ensuring that the planning, management and oversight of educational visits meets appropriate standards and links to the delivery of high-quality outcomes. Lowland Leader Training

Day 1: 20 Sept 2023 | 09:00am - 05:00pm Day 2: 22 Sept 2023 | 09:00am - 05:00pm The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking. Before you book onto a Lowland Leader training course, make sure you have done the following:You must be at least 17 years oldYou must be registered on the schemeYou must have recorded a minimum of 10 varied walks in Lowland terrain where the use of a map is required (ideally these will be recorded on DLOG) which can have taken place at any point (pre- or post-registration).      What's Covered Outcomes
