When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An Outdoor Instructor after my work experience at school in year 9 to Howtown Outdoor centre. I loved it and decided this is what I wanted to do. Policeman

 

What was your favourite subject in school?

PE. I then became a PE teacher and taught in school. I then moved into Outdoor Education 27 years ago.

 

What is your favourite outdoor activity? 

Climbing, first rock climbing, then bigger mountains in the Alps. Finally new peaks in Greenland.

 

Do you have any phobias? 

No but I do have a respect for the outdoors and how nature will always win. You work with nature and not against it.

 

What is the next skill you would like to learn? OR What is the next challenge you would like to take on?

I would like to keep working on surfing. I had lessons last year in Morocco, but I still have a lot to learn.

 

Where do you dream of visiting one day? 

I have climbed on every continent in the world but that has just scratched the surface there are still so many mountains out there in the world that I would like to explore.

 

If you could choose anyone, who would you most like to swap places with for the day? OR Which historical figure would you most like to meet?

Sir Edmund Hillary on the 29th of May 1953.
With Sherpa Tenzin he became the first climber to reach the summit of Everest on this date. What an amazing achievement.
