tame the moors…

When the going gets tough, the tough get going!  Students on our post-16 Moorland Challenger programme will learn to embrace challenges through perseverance, facing fears, and using the encouragement and support of others.

Students will have to harness the winds sailing, build their own craft to paddle across icy waters, and explore the North York Moors National Park with an epic mountain bike trail.

Facing these challenges head on, students will build self-confidence and self-esteem – realising they have what it takes to conquer any difficult task at hand…. whilst making new friendships and creating memoires for a lifetime along the way.

Itinerary

This is an example of an activity package and not a certainty, the Outdoor Education team will build you a specific programme of activities based on conversations with you.

Students go out on activity in groups of 12 so, depending on the number of students on adventure with us – and weather conditions, the order of activities may vary.

Personal Growth

Each student will be challenged at a level to suit their ability. Our tutors will help them build the tools they need to believe in themselves – to not be afraid to try, no matter how difficult the task ahead may seem. Confidence will be built through achieving success but also in the ability to deal with failure.

Social Skills

Students will learn the importance of working together in order to succeed. They will need to build relationships with their team members in order to solve problems and overcome challenges together – grasping the importance of how helping and supporting one another can have an impact at college, at home, and in the future.

Environmental Awareness

Spending time in the real outdoors provides students with the opportunity to connect with nature and get a better understanding of how human activity affects our fragile landscapes and ecosystems.
