Whether you are looking to start your own forest school or become part of an existing one this course will give you the skills you need.

Forest Schools offer young people the opportunity to attend regular sessions in which they can learn all about and develop themselves holistically in a student centered environment.

Nationally recognised Forest School qualifications are available via the national awarding organisation Open awards. North Yorkshire Outdoor Learning Service is a recognised providing centre for these qualifications at level 3.

Forest School Level 3

Day 1: 25 Sep 2023 09:00 - 5:00pm Day 2: 26 Sep 2023 09:00 - 5:00pm Day 3: 27 Sep 2023 09:00 - 5:00pm This modular training course provide delegates with a flexible approach to acquiring the competency to lead Forest Skills activities within their workplace setting. Delegates have the following booking options:1. Complete the full Forest Schools Level 3 training programme - 5 days2. Complete days 1-3 and receive a NYC Forest School Leader Accreditation3. Complete days 4 and 5 (Open Bladed Tools and Open Fires and Cooking). What's Covered Ā  Outcomes Upon completion of this training course all delegates will have the skills required to lead forest school activities in their setting. Delegates wishing to gain the Level 3 Open Award will need to undergo a period of consolidation where they can practice skills learnt during training and prepare their portfolio of evidence.

Level 2 MTB Leadership Assessment

East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre

Day 1: 13 July 2024 | 09:00am - 17:00pm One-day Practical and written assessment with a British Cycling accredited provider. The assessment is to be booked once youā€™ve had enough time to hone the skills and knowledge you have obtained on your training day. The maximum time to complete your award is 18months. You will be assessed on topics such as planning and delivery of rides, leading techniques for effective group management, map reading and navigation, management of accidents and emergencies, equipment set-up, trailside repairs and core mountain bike techniques.To attend the training course you must: Have completed the 2 day Level 2 Training Course.Have logged additional experience In order for your award to be accredited you are required to: hold British Cycling Membership of Ride level or above.attend and evidence a two-day outdoor First Aid courseundergo and evidence safeguarding training appropriate to the country they are leading in. These can occur after your course, but your award will only be provided on receipt and acceptance of these.

Level 2 MTB Leadership Training

Day 1: 29 JuneĀ 2024 | 09:00am - 17:00pm Day 2: 30Ā June 2024 | 09:00am - 17:00pm The Level 2 Mountain Bike Leadership Award is the entry point for experienced mountain bikers wanting to use their experience to safely guide others on off-road terrain. The course covers topics such as planning and delivery of rides, leading techniques for effective group management, map reading and navigation, management of accidents and emergencies, equipment set-up, trailside repairs and core mountain bike techniques.To register for the course:The minimum age to attend a course is 18 years old and you must have mountain biking experience in various terrains and weather conditions. An appropriate level of physical fitness for a dayā€™s riding is essential to be competent in the techniques and skills required to safely negotiate the typical trail features, generally comparable to red-graded purpose-built trails.
